Congress Shall Not Abridge the Freedom of the Press...Unless, You Know, They Do

I saw this article a couple of weeks ago, bookmarked it, then promptly forgot all about writing about it.

OK, it's not really an article but a blog post regarding Michigan State Senator, Bruce Patterson, who is attempting to introduce legislation that would require journalists to be licensed by the state because like, you know, some of these reporters don't know what they're talking about and who's heard of their publications anyway.

In essence, the state would control who could be a reporter and thereby likely control content.

Hmmm...apparently Senator Patterson needs to brush up on the First Amendment to the Constitution because I'm fairly certain this legislation would pretty much violate it all hollow.
