Stuck in My Head Song of the Day

As I've previously stated here, I often wake up to random songs in my head.

Often as in pretty much every day.

I suspect this is because of the way I dream as discussed here. I have been known, in fact, to break out in song while sleeping. A little known tidbit of quirky knowledge you can now file under "Jane in Her Infinite Weirdness" just in case I'm ever the subject of a trivia category at Geeks Who Drink1.

I must admit, the breaking into song during sleep thing is a little disconcerting and embarrassing when sleeping with someone for the first time - or when they hear it for the first time rather. But that's another story for another time.

The point is that I wake up with a song stuck in my head every morning. Sometimes it's pervasive and will stay at the fore all day long. Other times, it's gone before I've had my second cup of coffee.

Yesterday, when I awoke to Lips Like Sugar by Echo in the Bunnymen circa 1987, it occurred to me that perhaps I ought to pay attention to these random subconscious cues and thus decided I would start keeping track of the Stuck in My Head Song of the DayTM for an entire month, make a playlist out of it, and see what happens.

If you'd like to follow along, I've created a playlist for it on the You Tube and hopefully there will be no Prince in the lineup...or Beatles...or any other artist who gets cranky about their music appearing on the site. Just in case, I am also keeping a list and will post the list at the end of the month here. Don't be surprised by the funk I'm sure will make a thoroughly respectable showing.

Beware. Some songs may be catchy and impossible to remove.

1: What? It could totally happen!

Sometimes earworms are worth having in your head.

What a great idea! I'm going to keep track of the ones in my head each morning and compare notes, like a song stalker. *laugh*

This morning I woke up singing the song from the commercial with the baby flying around in his walker "I got a brand new pair of roller skates, you got a brand new key!..." My husband doesn't appreciate my morning singing much.

No Prince? C'mon... no room for a smidgen of Little Red Corvette?

@Michael: It has nothing to do with not liking Prince. Prince just doesn't allow any of his music on You Tube and so I wouldn't have been able to include anything by him on the playlist.
