That's a Restaurant? Really?!

Due to this unscheduled illness Lex and I now both have, my weekend plans were pared down to the minimum. A weekend which a week ago on the calendar was jam packed was reduced to two activities...

Girl time with girlfriends from out of town and laundry.

Because you know how after you've been sick for a few days and you wake up one morning and know you're feeling better because you feel covered in germs and feel like everything in your house is covered in germs and everything must be stripped down and bleached like RIGHT NOW?

Yep, that's the feeling I woke up to this morning.

So I kinda overdid a bit. Cleaned, laundered, stripped (bedding and myself), bleached, rinsed, repeated.

But! There was nothing going to keep me from going out with the girls this evening for a glass (or two) of wine and supper.

I had the wine place covered. The Living Room of course - one of my favorite places for wine. But supper? I was completely at a loss. I hadn't given it any thought and with my brain addled from sickness and wine, I couldn't think of anywhere really fantastic to go.

One of my friends popped up with the suggestion of going to Bastien's on Colfax and Madison.

Now, I've driven past this restaurant at least 100 times in the 18 years I've lived in Denver. I recognized the name and knew what the sign looked like but I'd never considered trying it. Hell. I'm not even sure I knew it was a restaurant. I think I thought it might be a no tell motel. I don't know why...it just never registered that it might be the kind of place in which I ought to go.

Well! Let me tell you. I. Loved. It.

It's a steak house primarily so, if you don't like steak, it might not be your cup o' meaty tea. But! If you do like steak? Oh my. And! If you also like Frank Sinatra and mid-century retro decor?

You. Must. Go. To. Bastien's.

I had the 8 oz filet mignon with jalapeno bacon and sweet potato fries. I cannot vouch for the fries as they are not on plan and I was determined to stick to THE PLAN but the steak was simply perfect.

Perfect.

Must go back soon...like maybe tomorrow.

Period.

I stare at it constantly, is it true there is shag carpeting in there?
It's on my 'list' for sure since I read about it!

I give it two thumbs up - loved it! But picturing it as a no tell motel is more fun. *giggle*
