Word Nerd

I love words. This should not surprise you.

In light of this information, have you ever noticed some words are just...tickley? Or is that just me?

You know what I mean, right? Common words that, if you stop to think about them, start to sound completely ridiculous and make you feel all funny inside?

Some of my favorite tickley words...

Uvula

Pants

Tote

Sparkle

Onomatopoeia1

What are some of your favorite tickley words?

To get you in the spirit, here's an illegal art piece Jenni and Math-Matty put together to the song stylings of Gary Numan...

And if that didn't do it for you, here's a sketch from Monty Python about "woody" words...

And if that STILL doesn't do it for you, here's another sketch from Monty Python to (hopefully) embarrass you...

1: OK, that one's not all that common but it's fun to say and doubles as one of my all time favorite words.

"Poignant" is a scrunchy face word. I love words that make your face move in unexpected ways. For instance, can you say "smile" without actually smiling, even just a little bit?

My favorite word in the English language, by far, is "sesquipedalian." It means "given to using long or multi-syallabic words." Therefore, "sesquipedalian" *is* sesquipedalian. (Cracks me up every time!)
