Silver Fox

I found my first gray hair when I was 10.

Rather, the little redheaded girl in my class, Carrie, discovered it one day during line up after recess. I nearly died, I was so embarrassed.

By the time I was 15 then, I was coloring my hair regularly. The first time, was the day of the Anthrax/KISS concert at the Casper Events Center aka Pizza Hut on the Hill and I chose black...of course.

Since then, it's been just about every color under the sun - except blond. I never could see myself as a blond. I gravitated toward blues and purples and, of course, black.

Not too long ago, I decided to let my hair color grow out to its natural state which, by that time, was chock full o' gray streaks. It didn't bother me anymore - not since I hit my 30's and found out just how comfortable with myself I am. Besides, I often get complimented on it and my little hairdresser, who is of the awesome especially considering she just recently turned 21, refuses to let me consider color of any kind.

However, in the last 3 days, 2 people - co-workers - have stopped me and exclaimed over how gray my hair had become. They'd never noticed I had gray hair.

Huh?

So now I'm wondering...are they both completely oblivious to the appearance of others or has this year aged me so much that I've gotten grayer than I'd realized?

My granny's hair had turned completely white by the time she was in her early 40's.

I think maybe I might like that. Now wouldn't that be different?
