Finally! A Tribute Night Coming to Fruition

I have a terrible habit.

I love love love to come up with themes for parties...and then never have them.

But my themes, they're awesome.

That's about to change though.

This weekend, I'll be hosting a small gathering for a Dennis Hopper Tribute Night.

The gathering is small because I have seating for 3. That is, unless guests want to sit on the floor or a folding chair.

And that's part of the problem getting these themed parties off the ground1. The Grotto just wasn't meant for entertaining large groups and I have a lot of friends.

So this gathering will consist of my upstairs neighbors who I have shamefully only had down once and Owen. Because he's Owen and I like him. Plus, he's thin so he doesn't take up much room on the couch hee hee.

Additionally, Owen is the sole owner of the one lone copy made and sold of Super Mario Brothers and, since that was a totally random movie starring Dennis Hopper that no one but Owen has seen, it makes sense that he should come.

Anyway!

Yeah so we will also be showing Blue Velvet and not, as I'm sure you all are aghast, Easy Rider. Too obvious, I say. And I've seen it. I don't need to see it again.

The menu has been planned to incorporate several different Hopper vehicles:

People Chili - Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
Severed Ear Cookies - Blue Velvet2
Hot Hickory Smoked Bacon Cheese Dip - Hoosiers (Hickory High School) and Speed (because it was cheesy)

And, of course, the signature drink of the evening will be Napalm in the Morning - Apocalypse Now.

I'd cook something Cajun to represent Easy Rider but my neighbor's from Louisiana and brilliant at everything crafty - especially cooking. I cannot delude myself into believing I could dazzle her with my gumbo.

Sounds like fun, yeah?

Hopefully, next up, John Hughes Tribute Night. Because, you know, I've got so many ideas for food for that one!

1: Pardon the pun. Or not. Your choice.

2: Seriously. I found a recipe for ear cookies that look just like severed ears.
