How I See It

Nearly all people are downright, despicably selfish.

It's rare for someone to be able to step outside themselves and consider the feelings/relationships/boundaries of another person or people before they act.

Case in point: recently, I've been privy to a couple of situations (that are crazily tangled up with one another) - situations where one person has confided in me, and I, knowing additional details of their individual circumstances by additional confidences, try to advise them accordingly, without disclosing confidential information, to be the least selfish as possible while continuing to fulfill their needs,,,

And it's backfired.

And now? Now I just want to take each one of you self-absorbed, jealous, lying, SOBs by the shoulders and shake the everloving SHIT outta you.

Maybe I'm just tired.

Because when Jane gets tired? Her boundaries drop like poisoned flies until she's been invaded by drama llamas and then doesn't know what boundaries need to be re-established and how.

Maybe I'm pissed off.

Because when Jane acts as selflessly as is humanly possible, and watches others readily take advantage of the opportunity to move in and stab and stab and stab oh-so-selfishly, she can't disengage entirely and, instead, gets filled with anguish that is not her own.

Regardless of my motivation to shake until your teeth rattle, hear this: have a little respect for the people who care about you, who would knowingly and willingly give you their half of the world, asking little in return. They are not the cast offs, the defaults, the lowest common denominator.

They are, for all intents and purposes, the ones you should honor the most.

Ya ever feel like no good deed goes unpunished? Or as the Maestro puts it, the road to hell is paved with Good Samaritans.

Time to focus on solely yourself, m'lady. That's not always a bad thing. *kisses*

Dis. En. Gage.

Do not let the Them that is slavering and drooling and dragging you in EVER try to make you a puppet in their plays. Regardless of your perception of who is right and who is wrong, it is all wrong, and nobody can tell you from the pig when you're both covered in sh!t.

Oh, and amazingly often, once the players realize you aren't buying in and playing with them, they stop. Completely. Because they were doing it for the sole purpose of getting you involved, and without your involvement, they see no need to play the same game with the same players yet again. YOU were the raison d'etre for all the drama.

And even if they play on, don't get it on you. When you stop presuming to know who is right and who is wrong, stop needing to be right, and needing to win, all of those players lose interest in you. You are no longer feeding them at that point.
